One more year gone and another one approaching. Excited about what new possibilities will 2020 bring! We added hip-hop in 2019 and New Year will have another new class of contemporary dance. danceShala is constantly growing and evolving every year.
Dance is an expression of the inner soul. We are happy to be spreading the extreme joy in the lives of our students. Here is a reflection of that in the pictures from our last recital.

The last day of 2018 is the time for reflection. What were the accomplishments in the whole year for danceShala?
Our students performed in Carassauga and Toronto International Youth Dance Festival. Our teachers performed at Mississauga City Hall for Mayors from across Canada.
We conducted numerous Bollywood Dance workshops in Peel schools and our Annual Recital "Rhythm of Roots 2018" became a hit. We surpassed our own expectations! For the first time, we used a background screen during performances.
Dance is not just a rhythmical movement of the body, it is a source of pure joy. Our objective for 2019 is to spread this message to as many people as we can reach. We will add more classes, more teachers, more genres, and more students.

#danceShala performed at Carabram. There were 7 performances by the students and teachers including Classical, Bollywood and Cotemporary dance styles.

The Bharatanatyam students of #danceShala performed for the very first time at a community event. The poise and grace that they showed on stage is unmatchable considering the fact that the youngest one is only 5 years old. A very proud moment for #danceShala!

danceShala performed at the inaugural Diwali Dinner in support of Oakville Hospital Foundation.
The first performance was purely classical with Vocal, Violin, Santoor, Tabla, and Kathak dance. This was the opening piece of the show. It's a beautiful performance by the team of danceShala that consists of 4 exceptionally talented musicians!

danceShala® begins classes in Violin

On April 27, 2013 , #danceShala started lessons in Carnatic Violin on Saturdays. The teacher is a faculty member of RCM. The classes are available as group lessons as well as private lessons.

With great pride, #danceShala becomes the first school to offer Santoor lessons in Canada. The classes are held on Tuesday evenings and the instructor is a disciple of

Yet another spectacular performance by the team of #danceShala. It was for a fundraiser gala for Knights Table at Speranza Banquett Hall in Brampton. A Bollywood dance performance with a touch of lyrical hip hop - way to go!

#danceShala started its first Kathak class on Saturday, Feb 9, 2013. It's an amazing form of dance that provides enrichment to the soul. The instructor is so poised and graceful, and beyond any praise!
The regular class time is on Saturdays 10 to 11.

Bollywood and Bhangra Performance#danceShala organised its first event performance on Feb 2, 2013. It was a surprise Birthday party for a 70 years' old mom. Silman and Poonam did an awesome job considering the constraints we had in terms of time and space limitations.

#danceShala started its first Bharatanatyam dance class on Monday, Jan 14, 2013. The instructor is an amazing dancer herself and was able to connect with the kids in no time.

#danceShala kick off event on Jan 13 was a great success! The turn out was much larger than we had expected. Thank you all for coming and sharing this important event with us! There were performances on Classical Singing, Tabla, Kathak and Bharatanatyam. Everyone who came for the Bollywood trial class signed up.
Enjoy a few glimpses of this wonderful beginning!
